Day 6- Mendoza

Had a big supermarket shopping day for supplies for our trip over the Andes. As we parked our bikes outside the supermarket a young man offered to watch them for us while we were inside....which was nice! We could have bought a motorbike and lawnmower inside, it was huge! We purchased a 400gm block of pure sugar and fat which had 2100 cals in it and was advertised as ‘simply irresistible!’ That would be our emergency ration when all else fails. Had more coffee and ‘medialunas' (gorgeous little croissants dusted with sugar) which often accompany coffee, and headed back up the hill to pack our things for an early start. The night was to be the most noisy we have ever experienced in a tent….the usual funfair noise from next door followed by v. loud music from a nearby open air club which started at 12.00 and finished just as it was getting light at 6.30. We hardly slept a wink!
